Hi, I’m Sarah

I’ve been connected to the piano for nearly as long as I can remember. After spending my childhood learning to play and falling in love with the experience, I chose to earn my B.A. in Music in order to pursue teaching full time. My teaching practice has since spanned hundreds of students and multiple states, beginning first in 2007 in my hometown of Dayton, Ohio and continuing through my move to NYC in 2021.

I’m proud to be able to offer my students a gentle, experienced, and well-rounded approach to music that emphasizes the importance of autonomy and curiosity throughout the learning process.

Regardless of age, lessons are highly individualized to the needs, abilities, and goals of each student. My teaching focus areas lie in music theory, rhythm, note-reading, improvisation, expressive playing, and healthy piano-playing techniques. Feel free to explore more of my methodology here, my lesson process here, and my most asked questions here!
